Ryan Reynolds shut down rumours about him reprising the role of Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday.

Speculation began online after the actor shared a photo of a spray-painted “A” in an August social media post, sparking theories that he would return in the upcoming Marvel movie.

Rumours also circulated that Reynolds and Robert Downey Jr. had clashed on the Doomsday set.

However, Reynolds set the record straight in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, confirming that he hasn’t even set foot on the film’s set.

The actor was promoting the documentary John Candy: I Like Me, which he produced. The film reveals how Reynolds hid Easter eggs about Candy in Deadpool, Deadpool 2, and Deadpool & Wolverine.

When asked if he had done the same in Avengers: Endgame, Reynolds laughed off the question.

“There’s four that I’ve got in there,” Reynolds joked. “Of course, I’ve written them all at home in my PJs, and nobody’s seen ’em nor have I stepped foot on set. But, yeah, that’s about as far as I’ll go on that one.”

Avengers: Doomsday is the upcoming MCU instalment from Disney and Marvel Studios, scheduled for release on Dec. 18, 2026.
