Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis may be young, but royal fans are already wondering when the Wales children will officially step into their royal roles.
According to former royal butler Grant Harrold, it won’t be anytime soon.
Harrold, who worked for King Charles between 2004 and 2011, told Study Dog that Prince William and Kate Middleton are determined to give their three children as normal a childhood as possible.
While George, 12, Charlotte, 10, and Louis, seven, occasionally appear at major royal events like Trooping the Colour or the annual Christmas walkabout, most of their time is spent at school, on sports fields, or at home with their parents.
“William is determined to give his children as normal a childhood as possible,” Harrold explained.
“He’s made it clear they won’t be expected to take on official royal engagements until well into their twenties, allowing them time to grow up out of the spotlight.”
While George, second in line to the throne, may eventually take on military service or formal royal training, Harrold stressed that the approach is “modern, flexible and focused on their well-being above all.”
