Kanye West faces huge loss as legal trouble catches up

Kanye West is being made to realise that atlteast in the court of law, his actions will have dire consequences as a judge orders him to pay a hefty amount for non-compliance.

The rapper, who now goes by Ye, is being sued by Artist Revenue Advocates, LLC, over a copyright dispute pertaining to his album Donda.

During the discovery phase of the trial, the Runaway rapper and his legal team were required to produce documents that would help further the case towards a verdict, but his attorneys objected to a whopping 65 of the plaintiff’s requests, making them ask the court to jump in.

This made the Federal Judge side with the party that filed the lawsuit, ordering Kanye’s companies to not only hand over the documents but also pay the legal fees, more than $52,000 to be exact, incurred for all the trouble.

Despite the Yeezy founder’s lawyers arguing that the amount was “excessive” and that the plaintiffs hired senior attorneys at high hourly rates, asking the amount to be reduced to $15,000.

The judge refused to budge and noted that the repeated objections by the Heartless rapper’s team justified the time spent by the plaintiff’s team.

When was the lawsuit filed?

The lawsuit was filed in 2023 and is still active, with the outcome determining if Kanye has broken copyright infringement laws for the two tracks.
