In an interview with the Sunday Times, Stafford stated, “I went to visit him in jail, and as soon as I walked through that door, I couldn’t do anything but cry, to see my baby boy on the other side of that glass. We shed tears with each other for a minute.”
He then proceeded to soothe the 26-year-old, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, by telling him that the things he was experiencing were normal, that everyone has breakdowns every once in a while, his just unfolded in public.
Meanwhile Stafford revealed that Nas was ashamed of his conduct, saying, “When I went to visit he asked me to say, ‘tell everybody I’m sorry they saw me like that,’ even in that moment, he was apologizing to people for something he was going through.”
Notably, the Old Town Road singer was released on bail for $75,000, after staying in prison for the weekend and pleading not guilty to his charges.
