Jacob Elordi seems to have given his all for his upcoming portrayal of Frankenstein’s monster in the book adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
The Guillermo del Toro helmed project debuted at the Venice Film Festival on August 30, where the Euphoria actor talked about how the role deeply resonated with him.
“It was a vessel that I could put every part of myself into. From the moment that I was born to being here with you today, all of it is in that character," the Saltburn star stated to Deadline.
Elordi continued, “And in so many ways, the creature that’s on screen in this movie is the sort of purest form of myself. He’s more me than I am,” mirroring a quote from one of his other role’s books.
The last sentence is a quote from Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, which is spoken by Catherine Earnshaw about Heathcliff, a character he is set to play alongside Margot Robbie.
Elordi’s depiction of the complex character was praised by del Toro, who noted that the 28-year-old would put in 20-hour days without complaining.
Notably, Frankenstein comes out in cinemas on October 17, before being released later on streaming platforms.
The role of Victor Frankenstein is played by the Golden Globe award winner, Oscar Isaac.
