Harry Potter star Miriam Margolyes has opened up about her plans of considering assisted death.
The actress is widely known for playing the role of Professor Sprout in the wizardry world.
The English actress has now reached the age of 84 and believes she has let her body down.
Regretting her past habits, she told Weekend Magazine, “I have to walk with a walker now. I wish I’d done exercise.”
“It’s the most ghastly waste of time, except that it keeps you going. So, I’m foolish”, she added.
Despite her struggles with her weight, she said she will not consider taking Ozempic.
Ozempic is an anti-diabetic medication used to treat patients of diabetes. However, many people are increasingly taking it as a quick way to lose weight.
“You shouldn’t take medicine meant for people who are really sick.”
About her deteriorating health, Miriam said she does not want to suffer through pain.
“If a stroke meant I couldn’t speak, or I was doubly incontinent, or I lost my mind completely, I would ask to be put down.”
Assisted death is a growing phenomenon where people with incurable diseases use medical assistance to die.
