Dakota Johnson and Madonna made the internet lose their mind by posing for a picture together and as it turns out, the duo actually has a much deeper connection.
The Materialists star has apparently known the iconic singer ever since she was young, and two have been friends since, despite not making many public appearances together.
In an interview with E! News the Fifty Shades Of Grey actress traced back the origins of her admiration for the ‘Queen of Pop’ to span back almost three decades.
“I really love her,” she began before saying, “I met her when I was really young because she did a movie with my stepfather [Antonio Banderas], and then I got to know her later ‘cause we were gonna work together on something and we’ve always kind of circled each other.”
The 35-year-old gushed over the 67-year-old, adding, “She is like an energy to be near that is so beautiful and so wild. It’s just cool that she even wants to talk to me.”
Notably, the time when the Madame Web actress met the Popular singer dates back to 1996, when her mother, Melanie Griffith was married to the Evita actor.
Dakota’s rom-com, Splitsville is coming to limited theatres on August 22, before a wider release on September 5, 2025.
