Glen Powell seems to have no desire to put his own twist to the iconic James Bond, for just one simple reason.
The Anyone But You actor revealed what he thinks should be a priority when choosing the right man for the character, and he does not fit the criteria.
In speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the American actor emphasised, “I’m Texan. A Texan should not play James Bond. My family and I joke around, I can play Jimmy Bond, but I should not be playing James Bond.”
Although actors are known for switching up accents, Powell appears to have made up his mind about faithfulness associated with the role of 007.
“Get an authentic Brit for that job. That’s who belongs in that tuxedo,” he notes.
The highly sought-after character seems to have intimidated a number of actors who have flat-out denied the possibility of them taking on the role.
Alongside Powell, there is Taron Eagerton and Henry Golding who went as far as to say that it was every actor’s kind of nightmare.
The Amazon MGM Studios helmed project has not announced any cast members as of yet, but has the names of the Dune director Denis Villeneuve and writer Steven Knight attached to the upcoming James Bond movie.
No, Powell and Sweeney have never dated, however they did turn up the chemistry to promote their rom-com Anyone But You.
