Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin was recently confronted by a fan during his attendance at the Worldcon in Seattle.
The 76-year-old writer was taken aback by the ferocity of the question, where the person asked, “When will you hand over the book to Brandon Sanderson,” and added that Martin “will probably die soon.”
Though he didn’t respond to the mockery, his fellow authors, Sanderson, Robin Hobb, and Rebecca Roanhorse came to his defence while the crowd booed the fan.
Later, the Game of Thrones penner was consoled by the guests before the panel disbanded, with Martin going for a book signing.
Notably, the famous producer of the historical TV series has been working on The Winds of Winter for the past 14 years.
Martin has admitted that the book has been drafted, but its release is behind schedule, which has prompted his readers to demand the book ever since he announced it.
During the Worldcon, he confirmed that the dragon series lovers will find out more about the creatures in the upcoming books.
He said, "I design my dragons with a lot of care, and details of their whys and hows will eventually be revealed in The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring."
Currently, the House of the Dragon creator is busy with the show’s third season, which is in production with a release date of 2026.
Earlier this year, George R. R. Martin stated he had planned to put out two more books in the series: The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring.
