Chappell Roan became a Grammy nominee with her debut studio album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess in 2025.
The album was loved by critics and fans alike which increased the curiosity surrounding her next album.
Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, known professionally as Chappell Roan, released a new single, The Subway on July 31, 2025.
However, Chappell has revealed that her second studio album is on pause.
Despite the rising demand for Chappell to release new music, she has admitted that she has not been in a stable state to write since being displaced by the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year.
In conversation with Zane Lowe on Apple Music Radio after releasing her most recent song, Chappell said a sense of calm is key to her creative process.
“I want to write music whenever I feel settled. I haven’t felt settled.”, the singer confessed.
She said it has been a “very unsettling year” and needs “calm in a new house and have a routine”.
The 27-year-old said she “can think about writing a song once I have a routine”.
Earlier in January 2025, wildfires tore through Los Angeles County, destroying almost 20,000 homes and Chappell’s residence was one of those properties.
