Taylor Swift’s latest announcement of her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl was not met with excitement and celebration from all sides as news presenter Jack James takes a dig at the popstar.

The commentator is associated with Triple J, an ABC-owned station which labels itself as an indie broadcasting channel, and while wrapping up his segment on Friday’s breakfast show, he referenced the Karma singer’s appearance at boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast.

“That's the news for the day. I am off to announce my 12th studio album on my boyfriend's podcast now,” he stated, as per quotes obtained by Daily Mail.

Meanwhile the channel has received a lot of backlash in the past, since they refuse to acknowledge the Anti-Hero hitmaker due to her mainstream pop appeal even snubbing her from their Hottest 100 list.

The channel has however, recognised other mainstream singers such as Beyoncé, Doja Cat and Billie Eilish, making netizens furious over the intentional overlooking of Taylor.

“Tell me why Beyoncé and Doja Cat and other 'mainstream' artists can be in the hottest 100 but Taylor Swift isn't allowed,” one user wrote on social media.

Another added, “Okay but how were Billie (Eilish) and Beyoncé eligible for the Hottest 100 and Taylor Swift still isn't?? I smell a double standard. Triple J I see you. You ain't slick.”

When did Taylor Swift announce her album?

Taylor announced her return to music on August 13, airing out the cover art and release date for her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl.
