Hilaria Baldwin has candidly admitted that her romance with husband Alec Baldwin might sound like something straight out of a comedy sketch, but insists their marriage is built on equality, laughter and plenty of family chaos.
The 42-year-old podcaster, who married the 68-year-old Hollywood star in 2012, joked that the early perception of their relationship was hardly flattering.
Speaking openly about their 26-year age difference, Hilaria said the idea of “a 27-year-old yoga instructor married to a rich and famous older man” sounded “ridiculous” and even compared it to a bad Saturday Night Live sketch.
But behind the headlines, she says their relationship has proved the doubters wrong.
“We poke fun at each other in our family all the time,” she revealed, adding that people often assume Alec wanted someone he could control.
“We’re on the same level together,” she insisted.
The couple, who share seven children together, have managed to keep the spark alive despite their hectic schedules.
Hilaria revealed that regular date nights remain a priority, whether that means heading out for dinner or staying in while she cooks for the family.
“He loves a good dinner,” she said, explaining that their evenings often turn into long chats about their children and the projects keeping them busy.
Meanwhile, Alec has made no secret of wanting to slow down after decades in the spotlight.
Following his reduced workload in recent years, the Rust actor has admitted he has grown attached to life at home.
The veteran star previously revealed he spent years largely away from film sets and with his family, confessing he no longer has much desire to chase new roles.
In fact, he says retirement sounds increasingly appealing, with the Beetlejuice actor insisting he'd much rather spend his days at home with Hilaria and their seven children than under Hollywood's bright lights.
