Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise declined the lifetime achievement award presented by President Donald Trump, but does this fuel the ongoing Hollywood feud?

The report, released on Thursday, August 14, stated that Cruise was among the stars slated to be honoured at the 48th Kennedy Centre Honours later this year.

According to The Washington Post, Cruise has turned down the lifetime honour due to “scheduling conflicts.”

Cruise hasn’t officially spoken out about the news, nor have his representatives or Kennedy Centre representatives commented on anything.

However, if the reports are accurate about the Mission: Impossible franchise star rejecting Trump’s offer, then it would perhaps be less about scheduling issues and more about a deliberate move.

Cruise, being a global box office dominator, has maintained his image of staying neutral in public amidst the political turmoil in Hollywood.

So, dismissing Trump mustn’t be a loud protest, but it’s a significant association. Because when Trump joined the Kennedy Centre Honours, every attendee’s presence at the event made them inherently political.

The question, however, dangles in the air: whether Cruise’s decision is Hollywood’s elite choice or the actor has said more than showing up ever could.
