American actress Halle berry was married to baseball player David Justice from 1993 to 1997, which she described as a depressive period of her life.
In a recent appearance David made on the All The Smoke podcast last week, he made controversial comments about the actress and their time being married.
The sportsman said Halle did not “cook and clean”, comparing her to his mother.
The comment spread like wildfire as people were quick to defend Halle, saying the comment was “offensive”.
The actress celebrated her 59th birthday by sharing a set of snaps on her Instagram account but the post came with a subtle dig at her former husband.
Halle wrote “Phew…! cooking, cleaning and mothering.”
The statement was seemingly a response to David who said “she don’t cook, don’t clean, don’t really seem like motherly.”
The internet has stepped up to defend the actress now saying David was “looking for a housekeeper, not a partner”.
David also clamed that Halle was the one who proposed the idea of marriage and he went ahead with it despite the fact that he had doubts.
Halle has enjoyed major success after she divorced David as she went on to become the only African-American woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress, and the first woman of color.
