Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship may be beyond repair, according to a chorus of royal experts weighing in on the feud that’s defined the monarchy’s modern era.
The once-inseparable brothers have been estranged for years, with tensions reportedly exploding after Harry’s 2023 memoir Spare and their 2020 royal exit with Meghan Markle.
Historian Amanda Foreman told People the standoff is gridlocked because “everyone wants it to happen on their terms,” calling reconciliation “impossible.”
Royal biographer Robert Lacey (Battle of Brothers) was even blunter: the rift is “very profound and very long-lasting” and won’t shift “until Harry makes a move and apologises.”
Adding a poignant what-if, Princess Diana’s biographer Andrew Morton believes the late royal would have acted as peacemaker.
Diana “always used to say she had two boys for a reason, the younger would be there to support the older” as king, Morton said, adding that if she were alive “they would have worked things out.”
Reports suggest William, 42, and Harry, 40, barely communicate, with years of public revelations, interviews and projects widening the gulf.
