Piers Morgan trolls Meghan Markle, Prince Harry after Netflix deal renewal

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are “absolutely over the moon” after securing a fresh multi-year first-look deal with Netflix, and Piers Morgan wasted no time weighing in. 

The broadcaster reposted a tongue-in-cheek gag on X noting the streamer now gets “first refusal” on the Sussexes’ ideas, quipping that rival platforms were surely desperate for the rights “to say no first.”

The new pact keeps Archewell Productions in the Netflix stable, with the streamer retaining exclusive first pass on projects; if Netflix passes, the couple can shop them elsewhere. 

The agreement is widely believed to be on leaner terms than their 2020 mega-deal, but the Sussexes sound energized. 

In a statement, Meghan said they’re “proud” and “inspired” to extend their “creative partnership.”

What’s coming with the new deal is season 2 of With Love, Meghan that lands later this month, followed by a December holiday special set in Montecito and packed with “friends and family.” 

Also on the slate is Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within, a documentary spotlighting Ugandan children growing up in the shadow of HIV/AIDS, plus several projects in active development across genres, including the long-teased adaptation of the romantic novel Meet Me at the Lake.

The renewal arrives after weeks of rumours the relationship was “dead.”
