The world of cinema was left shocked on August 5 when it was reported that the legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola has been hospitalised in Italy following heart concerns.
Francis is most famously known for creating one of the most iconic movies of all time, The Godfather trilogy, and being the pioneer of mafia films in Hollywood.
Contrary to first report that stated that the filmmaker was rushed to the hospital in emergency, it has been clarified that Francis was admitted for a scheduled update procedure.
“Mr Coppola went in for a scheduled update procedure with acclaimed Dr Andrea Natale, his doctor of over 30 years, and is resting nicely. All is well.”, the spokesperson confirmed.
He also added that it was not an emergency and he was taken to the hospital in a car.
The director has been touring around this summer promoting his 2024 movie Megalopolis.
He also opened up about losing his wife of six decades, Eleanor, who passed away in 2024 after being diagnosed with Thymoma.
Francis himself gave an update on his public Instagram account disclosing that he is in Rome for his Atrial fibrillation (AFib) procedures.
Atrial fibrillation, also known as AFib, is a medical procedure carried out to restore the rhythm of heart.
