The Grammy-winning psychic-comedy gothic series Wednesday has returned with a brand new season, bringing back Jenna Ortega in her signature deadpan and darkly humorous role.
After saving Nevermore Academy, Wednesday Addams reclaims her space at the school on August 6.
Speaking with Christopher Lloyd and Steve Buscemi, Ortega dished everything we need to know about the new season during her appearance on Good Morning America on Monday, August 4.
“We're still with the same cast, and there are a lot of new faces coming into play, because a lot of people [last season] had unfortunate endings," she said with a laugh.
The Emmy-nominated actor described the latest season as “darker, bigger, better,” adding that Netflix has shown increased trust in the show this time around.
“We had such an incredible reaction to the first season that we just wanted to give them something good,” Ortega noted.
Ortega also praised her on-screen mother, Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), calling her “one of the funniest people.”
The two will face off in a sword fight this season, a scene Ortega revealed was “one of my favorite things to come out of the show.”
Two more big names are joining Nevermore this season: Steve Buscemi as Principal Barry Dort, and Christopher Lloyd, who famously played Uncle Fester in the 1991 Addams Family movie.
Ortega was genuinely stunned, in the best way, by both new additions.
“Christopher Lloyd, I'm still quite shocked by. I don't know how to process that — his history in film in general, but also his relation to the Addams Family,” she said.
The Netflix breakout also recalled working with Steve Buscemi for the second time now.
“He's just a cool — he's a cool guy,” she said. “I don't know how to say it. He's... almost suave in a way — very unassuming and normal, talented. He's such a pleasure.”
Wednesday Season 2 is streaming now on Netflix.
