Eminem is considered one of the most skilled musicians and quickest rappers of the 21st century with many hits to his name.
His 2000 song Stan is labelled the rapper’s signature track which has won him many awards.
The rapper’s long-time manager Paul Rosenberg has now given insight on how the song was made.
Paul has confirmed that Stan was in fact a “happy coincidence”.
Stan is a portmanteau of the words “stalker” and “fan”, which Eminem combined and to this day the word lives on in pop culture to label dedicated and borderline obsessive fans of artists.
In 2017, the word was added to the Oxford English Dictionary. It is defined as “a very enthusiastic fan of somebody/something”.
“It was just the name that rhymed with ‘fan’, and he just created it based on that. So that was a happy coincidence.”, Paul explained to The Independent.
The song follows an obsessive fan growing more and more concerned why the artist is not responding to his letters.
Paul went on to discuss the impact of the song as a documentary on dynamic between Eminem and his fans who followed him on his journey titled STANS, is set to release on August 7.
In the song Legacy, the artist revealed he was on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
