Prince Harrys memoir Spare mislisted as womens biography on Amazon

Prince Harry’s memoir Spare has unexpectedly landed on Amazon’s list of “Best Sellers in Women’s Biographies,” prompting confusion and commentary online.

Originally released in January 2023 and later reissued in paperback in October 2024, Spare has seen enduring commercial success, despite the misclassification.

At the time of writing, the book is ranked number 19 on the list, with over 116,000 reviews from readers.

Harry is not the only male author featured in the women’s biography category. Former Scotland football manager Duncan Ferguson’s memoir currently appears at number 21.

Spare, published by Penguin Random House, broke records upon its release. It became the fastest-selling non-fiction book in history, with 1.4 million copies sold on its first day across the US, UK and Canada.

Within a week, sales topped 3.2 million copies worldwide across all formats.

Penguin Random House later reported a 13.2 percent increase in turnover in 2023, largely attributed to the book’s release.

In Spare, Harry revealed deeply personal stories, including private conversations with his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William.
