Beloved filmmaker George Lucas attended San Diego Comic Con, receiving a standing ovation from thousands of fans.
He opened up about the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which he has co-founded with his wife, businesswoman Mellody Hobson.
Having been announced in 2017, it is set to open in Los Angeles’ Exposition Park next year.
“This is sort of a temple to the people’s art,” he explained.
It has been designed by Ma Yansong, seemingly familiar to a big space cruiser, coming in at 300,000 square feet.
Arts and artifacts from Star Wars will be displayed in the museum with actor Samuel L. Johnson giving a video introduction.
Moderator and chief energizer, Queen Latifah asked the crowd, “Are y’all pumped up for this museum now or what?
The place in part serves the purpose of displaying all the comics and related things that Lucas has been collecting since he was in college in the 1960s, “I could get an ‘Alley-Oop’ for $30. I’ve been collecting narrative art ever since.”
“What am I going to do with it all?” he added. “I refuse to sell it. I could never do that.”
