American actor Tom Cruise changed his real name during early days in career
Tom Cruise, who is notable for his infamous role in Miss Impossible series, changed his original name early in his acting career.
While he gained fame by being called Tom, the 63-year-old actor was named Thomas Cruise Mapother IV by his parents.
However, the Hollywood actor shifted to an abbreviated version to detach himself from his traumatic childhood days.
Although the icon has now joined one of the biggest and wealthiest stars of the industry, Tom once faced poverty and harsh conditions during his early years.
In 2006 interview with Parade, the Top Gun: Maverick lead opened up about his father who would “kick” the person who does something “wrong.”
The A-lister admitted he wasn’t able to “trust him,” feeling there is “something wrong with this guy.”
Tom was separated from his father after his mother Mapother III divorced him, reuniting with him when he was on his death bed.
Upon seeing his father, the actor thought: “Wow, what a lonely life,” admitting “it was sad” for him.
