BAFTA-winning actress Vanessa Kirby, who portrays Sue Storm in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest instalment, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, uses her full potential to save her newborn from Galactus.

Recently, while speaking to Variety, the Oscar-nominated actor spoke about her bonding with baby Franklin in the iconic reboot film.

“Our lead baby, Ada, a little girl, was just heaven,” Kirby said, assuring that the baby was real, not AI-generated. “We had lots of other babies who were acting with us and helping us. We got really attached to them, and they were so much a part of our journey. It almost became weird if they weren’t there.”

Adding to that, the actress recalled shooting her speech one winter night in London, describing why it was challenging.

“It was really late and we were shooting in winter in London,” Kirby remembered, “and all the babies cried at exactly the same line. I thought, ‘Am I delivering something so bad that they’re crying at the same moment?’ Babies are the most natural actors in the world.”

The Crown actress also recalled her character’s bond with Franklin that drove Sue to propel Galactus into an alternate universe and protect her son.

“It was so helpful to know that it was a mother’s rage, and a mother’s love,” Kirby noted, “because it felt animal. I wanted it to feel more primal, rather than just, ‘I’m trying to defeat this enemy for everybody.’”

Marvel's Invisible Woman said the scene for her was more like “I’m fighting to save my child,” and she expressed the fierceness of the feminine, even though Sue embodies a very soft femininity.
