Pete Davidson on becoming father plus advice from friend MGK

Former Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson shared the parenting tips he received from Machine Gun Kelly for his first child, whom he is set to welcome soon with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt.

On Sunday, July 27, at the Los Angeles premiere of The Pickup, the soon-to-be parents appeared for the first time on the red carpet since the pregnancy news.

Speaking to People on the red carpet, he shared the advice he received from Kelly.

“He's the best dad ever,” the actor said. “He flies back and forth to Cleveland twice a week just to see his daughter play volleyball. And he's just always with his kids, and it's such a beautiful thing to see.”

Kelly is already a dad to two daughters — 16-year-old Casie, whom he shares with ex Emma Cannon, and 4-month-old Saga, whom he shares with ex Megan Fox.

“It's his favourite thing. And he's like, ‘This is going to be your favourite thing,’” Davidson revealed about Kelly's views on parenthood. “So I'm really excited.”

The comedian added about becoming a father: “I'm just excited to take care of the little one. The second I found out the news, I was like, ‘Oh wow, what I do is just a job.’”

"I realised I was kind of basing my happiness on work, which is ridiculously unhealthy," Davidson said further. "So it gave me this weird sense of calmness, where this is just a job, and now I have someone to do it for.”
