Prince William and Prince Harry’s cousin has spoken out, and she’s standing firmly in Meghan Markle’s corner.
Maddison May Brudenell, great-granddaughter of Lord Mountbatten and third cousin to the princes, tied the knot with Canadian welder Bret Kapetanov in November 2024, her second marriage.
Like Meghan, Maddison chose to wear a white wedding dress despite being divorced, a decision that drew comparisons to the Duchess of Sussex’s bold 2018 bridal look.
The late Queen Elizabeth was reportedly less than impressed with Meghan’s pure-white Givenchy gown, believing it was “too white” for a second-time bride. But Maddison isn’t having it.
Taking to Instagram, she shared a defiant message alongside a resurfaced quote from royal commentator Ingrid Seward, who claimed the Queen confided her disapproval to close aides. “Needless to say, when this article was flung in my face last week, I didn’t bat an eyelid,” Maddison wrote.
She revealed her own mother, Edwina Hicks, the Queen’s goddaughter, echoed similar disapproval. But Maddison held her ground.
“We may as well just splash some muddy water, drip some blood, sweat and tears on it for good measure,” she quipped.
Maddison’s final bridal look featured a bespoke Laura Green gown, a replica of the Mountbatten Pearl and Diamond tiara, and white platform Christian Louboutin heels.
