Late-night franchise star David Letterman has shown support for fellow host Stephen Colbert following the cancellation of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert by CBS.

On Monday, July 21, Letterman made a statement via his YouTube page backing Colbert.

The late-night legend shared a 20-minute-long video in which he called out the network, with whom he worked between 1993 and 2015.

He captioned the video, “You can't spell CBS without BS,” while speculating on the political motives behind the cancellation.

Letterman cracked several jokes about the network, featuring eight clips spanning two decades from 1994 to 2013.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Colbert kicked off The Late Show following the cancellation news, receiving support from his fellow late-night comedians in a recent episode.

The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon, Late Night’s Seth Meyers, The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart, and Last Week Tonight’s John Oliver all made unannounced cameos on the show.

The hosts appeared during a segment where Colbert invited Lin-Manuel Miranda and “Weird Al” Yankovic to perform a song to cheer up the audience.

The duo chose to sing a Coldplay song while the camera panned to couples in the crowd for a kiss moment, referencing the viral Coldplay kiss cam.

During the camera movement, the show caught a cartoon of Trump embracing the Paramount logo, following Colbert’s announcement that Miranda and Yankovic’s performance had been cancelled due to a “purely financial decision.”
