Michael Jackson’s biopic, which features music icon’s nephew, faced a new setback during the ongoing legal issues spiralling the movie.

Although the "King of Pop" was supposed to be honoured by the upcoming project, there is a new addition to the hurdles stopping its release.

According to Deadline, the movie will not hit the screens anytime soon as it has been pushed back by a year.

It was reported by the outlet that the biopic will premiere on April 24, 2026 after being delayed twice.

Michael, a movie directed by Antoine Fuqua, was supposed to release in October before its schedule to hit the theatres on April 18.

The source noted that the long-running time of the movie, which was three and a half hours after initial edit, is one of the causes of the delay in release.

Another reason was noted by the outlet to be the removal of Jordan Chandler's references from the original cut out.

The mention of the 13-year-old, who alleged that Michael molested him, was edited out due to an agreement that does not allow his inclusion in the motion picture.

What happened between Michael Jackson and Jordan Chandler?

In 1993, the Chandlers sued the Smooth Criminal hitmaker, accusing him of sexual abuse. However, the case was closed after a financial settlement between the two parties.
