Kneecap might face yet another blow just days after getting dropped from the TRNSMT festival lineup.

The Irish hip hop trio is scheduled to headline the upcoming Fontaines D.C. show on August 15 with an expected audience of above 26,000 music fans.

Just five weeks before the scheduled gig, The Guardian reports that the band might be dropped from the line-to to the festival over ‘safety concerns’.

A Manchester city council spokesperson said, “As with any major event being held in one of our parks, we are in regular discussion with the key stakeholders involved to ensure the event concerned can be placed safely and effectively.”

This comes after the Belfast band performed at Finsbury Park on Saturday, July 5, to support Fontaines D.C. festival.

‘Safety Concerns’ regarding Kneecap stems from an ongoing investigation on terror charges against the band’s frontman, Mo Chara.

It is alleged that Mo Chara waved the Hizbollah flag on stage during their gig in London 2024.

The singer has appeared in court previously and secured an unconditional bail prior to their performance at Glastonbury Festival.

Is Kneecap a real band?

Kneecap is a real Irish hip hop trio from Belfast, Nothern Ireland. It consists of two vocalists Mo Chara, Moghlai Bap and DJ Provai.
