Irish rap band Kneecap is making waves not only because of their pro-Palestinian stance, but also because of sold out shows.

The band was allowed to perform at the recent Glastonbury Festival but the BBC decided against live streaming their gig.

The rap trio was booked for a gig at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on Tuesday night, July 8, and the show was sold out in barely a minute.

The band’s lead vocalist took to the stage and lashed out at Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney.

He asked, “What is your first minister’s name?” then answered himself, “He stopped us from playing TRNSMT but they can’t stop us performing Glasgow.”

The criticism by the Better Way to Live vocalist comes after the Scottish first minister made a request to remove them from performers list in May 2025.

They were dropped from TRNSMT after Scotland police raised safety concerns over ongoing investigation by counter-terror police.

Despite the controversy, Kneecap is going strong as Belfast group is set to perform at 2000 Trees rock festival on July 10.

What is Kneecap band scandal?

The Irish rap band is accused of breaking British law by waving a Hizbollah flag at a concert in London, November 2024.
