Niall Horan looks back on one most emotional time of his life, Liam Payne’s death.

Horan is still going through the pain of losing a close friend as he recalled his last moments with during his appearance on the RTE’s The Tommy Tiernan Show.

The host respectfully, giving the No Judgement singer some space, asked him about his former bandmates passing and grief he went through.

The Slow Hands hitmaker began by saying, "Shocked was definitely the first thing" that hit him when he heard the news.

He recalled how Payne came to his hotel room on the day of Horan’s Argentina gig, had a coffee and chat and later attended his show at night.

Payne attended Horan’s gig in Buenos Aires, on October 16, two weeks before his demise. Making the Irish singer as the only One Direction member who met him days before his tragic passing.

The Black and White crooner shared when he went home after completing the tour, “I was home don’t know what day of the week it was, can’t remember - and just looked down at my phone and got a text. It was just pure shock.”

Horan then admitted that he knew Payne was going through a couple of issues, but he wasn’t aware of the depth.

“I knew he had couple of issues, but I wasn’t around him like I was in previous years all the time”, added the musician.

Horan, with a heavy heart, continued, “I grew up with this fella and all of a sudden, he’s no more. It’s just a very strange thing.”

His upcoming album Dinner Party, slated for release on June 3, has a soundtrack End of an Era dedicated to Payne.
