Conner Smith has received a misdemeanor state citation from the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department after his role in a fatal car crash on June 8.
He had been driving a Chevrolet Silverado when his car came into contact with 77 year old Dorothy Dobbins who had been crossing the street within a marked crosswalk.
She was then taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she ended up passing away.
Smith’s attorney, Worrick G. Robinson IV told People, “Conner is incredibly grateful to the MNPD for their time and efforts to carefully investigate this tragic accident and has continued to cooperate at all times. His thoughts remain with Ms. Dobbins’ family, and he remains committed to honoring her memory with compassion by supporting efforts to improve pedestrian safety and help prevent future tragedies.”
Following the accident, the Nashville police claimed that the “preliminary contributing factor for this crash appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian,” and that the singer had shown “no signs of impairment.”
A source that spoke to the outlet said that Smith had not been under the influence nor had he been distracted by his phone at the time of the incident.
