Dwayne Johnson penned a heartfelt note for the Mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Mark Kerr, whom he’ll portray in the upcoming A24 biopic, The Smashing Machine.
Recently, the Rock shared an emotional video tribute on Instagram in collaboration with UFC, honouring Kerr during his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame.
“Love you, brother and thank you for living your life - as your life, has changed mine.” Johnson wrote in his caption.
The clip featured snippets from Thursday night’s ceremony at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
It also depicted flashbacks of winning moments from the MMA fighter’s life, while the actor gave a speech praising Kerr.
He started the caption by echoing his powerful address from the event, “It’s not the win-it’s the PRESSURE TO WIN that can become our greatest heartache.”
Alongside the former wrestler, his co-star Emily Blunt was also present during the event. Blunt portrays Kerr’s then-girlfriend, Dawn Staples, in the film.
The tribute comes as Johnson prepares to bring Kerr’s story to life in The Smashing Machine, set for release on October 3, 2025.
The movie will show Kerr’s remarkable yet turbulent career as one of MMA’s most legendary figures.
