Country singer Conner Smith kills woman in car crash

Country singer Conner Smith allegedly hit and consequently killed a woman while driving a pickup truck on June 8.

The 77 year old woman was named Dorothy Dobbins and was taken to the hospital, where she tragically passed away.

The truck he had been driving was reportedly a Chevrolet Silverado, and he ran into Dobbins while she was on the roadway inside a marked crosswalk.

According to the authorities, she lived near the scene, and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she later passed.

“The preliminary contributing factor for this crash appears to be Smith failing to yield the right of way to the pedestrian,” said a press release. “He showed no signs of impairment.”

The investigation is currently in process, but “at present” there are no charges against the singer.

In a statement given to People by Smith’s attorney, he was “involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life.”

The statement continued, “His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins’ family during this incredibly difficult time. Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.”

A source that spoke to the outlet claimed that the incident had been an accident, and the singer had not been under the influence, nor had he been using his phone.
