'Googlebox' star Emmie Silbery dies at 96 after health crisis

Emmie Silbery, who is known for reality series Googlebox, passed away at 96 after a long health battle.

The news of her sad passing was announced by the icon’s granddaughter Isabella Silbery through her Instagram.

Isabella wrote in the update that the TV personality waited for her “to come home for one last snuggle.

She also revealed that the star’s heartbreaking last words were: “I’m ready to hang up now.”

The departed soul was “an orphan, a nurse, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, the oldest woman on TV,” being the eldest participant on the Australian show.

The granddaughter expressed her gratitude towards everyone “for loving her as much as we did and will forever. Have a big rest now… you deserve it.”

How did Emmie Silbery die?

Emmie died after her long battle with dementia. 

Fans were “devastated” at the loss as they poured in condolences for the grieving family members and well wishes for the late star.

Former host of Today Show Lisa Wilkinson was “sad to hear the news” as she gushed about the reality star, calling her “beautiful, talented, giving soul.”

She added: “Glad you got that last snuggle.”

Another fan was honoured “to have met her. She was a truly special woman. May she rest in piece.”

Lee and Keith, a fellow Googlebox star, revealed that the late participant “was our adopted grandmother… as we lost our grandparents years ago.”
