Amazon MGM Studios’ top three candidates for 'James Bond' character have come to surface as Denis Villeneuve takes helm for directing the upcoming movie.
Amazon has recently made an official announcement on X, declaring: "Amazon MGM Studios sets Denis Villeneuve as director of next James Bond film.”
According to Variety, Villeneuve outcompeted four European directors, Edward Berger, Edgar Wright, Jonathan Nolan, and Paul King for this highly coveted position.
After confirming the director for the 26th official film in the Bond series, the efforts to select the writer and Agent 007’s character have gained momentum, leading to speculations.
According to insiders, the studios and producers vouch for casting a British actor under age 30.
Top three candidates for highly anticipated character include Jacob Elordi, Tom Holland, and Harris Dickinson.
Jacob, though being Australian, is considered a top preference based on his performance in Saltburn.
Moreover, Tom and Harris are also known for their iconic performances in Spider-Man and Babygirl.
Further speculations are also making rounds on the internet that Henry Cavill, 42, Idris Alba, 52, and Aaron-Taylor Johnson, 35, would be the potential candidates to inherit Bond’s legacy.
In addition to these picks, Aaron Pierre, Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, Richard Madden, and Rege-Jean Page have been the part of speculations.
Besides the 007 role, Amazon has also shortlisted the writers who will chart the course of the story.
Amazon is planning to release the movie in 2028.
According to the official announcement, Amy Pascal and David Heyman will co-produce the upcoming movie.
