Blake Lively had scored a massive win in her sexual harassment case against Justin Baldoni after his countersuit got thrown out, but it seems like the tides are turning as her efforts to keep Taylor Swift out of it get rejected.
The It Ends With Us actress had filed a protective order with court to not allow the Jane the Virgin star and his legal team to use her text threads with the How Did It End? singer as evidence in the case.
In legal documents obtained by Page Six, Judge Lewis J. Liman has denied the order on June 18, not long after the request was filed.
“The requests for messages with Swift regarding the film and this action are reasonably tailored to discover information that would prove or disprove Lively’s harassment and retaliation claims,” he declared.
However, it goes without saying that the conversation in the texts should be relevant to the case, or to the movie adaptation of It Ends With Us, since it is at the set of the film that Blake alleges the harassment took place.
Justin’s attorneys had also subpoenaed the 14-time Grammy winner, before withdrawing the order.
Notably, Taylor being dragged in the drama surrounding this case has allegedly caused problems in her and Blake’s nearly decade long friendship.
In the legal documents, Judge Lewis J Liman wrote that the director and his company have not alleged if "Lively is responsible for any statements other than the statements in her complaint, which are privileged.”
The judge explained that Justin’s allegations do not fulfil the requirements “for them to be liable for defamation under applicable law.”
