The horror-thriller movie 28 Years Later, directed by Nia DaCosta, is set to hit theatres soon, and the movie’s star, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, has something to reveal about its sequel.

Johnson opened up about the upcoming sequel, saying that the movie has a different aura than other horror films and will leave fans breathless.

Speaking with GamesRadar+, Johnson teased that the sequel will be a “more horrific” blockbuster, which plays up the “family drama.”

The actor further explained why 28 Years Later stands out from the average horror film. Johnson said that in the twisted luck of his character and protagonist, Jamie, his family—including his wife Isla, played by Jodie Comer, and Spike, played by Alfie Williams—in the Rage Virus-affected world, creates a whirlpool of emotions.

"We played the reality of the family drama, didn't we?" he said. "We just kind of leaned into what our family was feeling and going through in this post-apocalyptic world."

Johnson further added: "So the story itself feels very intimate within this big landscape. So you don't really play into the sort of horror theme in a way; you're just playing the reality of the circumstances, and I think that, in itself, is more horrific.”

Moreover, the actor noted that he didn’t draw any inspiration from other horror or zombie films while preparing for 28 Years Later.

"I didn't," he said. "I didn't feel like it correlated or related to this."

The movie 28 Years Later will open in theatres on June 20.
