Eminem, who is known for nearly three-decade long career, has stood up against a social media platform to protect his music.

The 52-year-old singer has created over 367 songs during his life-long association with the music industry.

In the recent turn of events, the rapper’s music publisher Eight Mile Style took a legal action on June 3 against Meta, which is a parent company of Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp.

The company is demanding over $109 million in the lawsuit, alleging that the enterprise committed copyright infringement of 243 tracks of the Mockingbird hitmaker.

The documents accused the company of “unauthorised storage, reproduction and exploitation” of the songs.

It states that the platforms “allow and encourage its users to steal” the tracks and add it to their content without “proper attribution or license.”

Meta platforms are yet to comment on the situation.

The music catalogue of the songwriter has great significance for him as he usually included the struggles of his life in them.

Did Eminem sue Facebook in 2013?

In 2013, the music publishing firm named Facebook and an advertising agent over Eminem’s “Under the Influence” being allegedly copied by them without consent.

The platform’s lawyers defended the 30-second advertisement by maintaining that the track bears similarity to that of Michael Jackson.

However, the case closed after a private settlement between the contending parties outside the court.
