The Buffy The Vampire Slayer reboot on Hulu has found its main lead to star alongside the original actress, Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Ryan Kiera Armstrong who is known for having starred in projects such as Star Wars: Skeleton Crew and Firestarter has been cast for the reboot.
She will be taking on the part of a new slayer in the still untitled project, which Gellar is executive producing.
The pilot will be directed by Oscar winner, Chloé Zhao and the script will be written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman.
Coming from 20th Television and Searchlight TV, no further details have been revealed about the project, only that it is the next chapter in the Buffy universe.
“Buffy Summers tries to live a normal life in high school while embracing her responsibilities and destiny as a hunter of vampires and demons,” reads the synopsis of the series that ran for a total of seven seasons.
About the decision to cast Armstrong, Gellar remarked, “From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side. To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room."
