Kate Middleton vs Meghan Markle: Can Hollywood Glam collide with Royal Duty?

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton's hostility towards one another is one of the most interesting gossips in that echo in the hallways of the Buckingham Palace.

The two ladies, married to two brothers, embroiled in a conflict, is an everyday household drama.

Many had imagined Kate and Meghan to be the best of friends, considering the fact both of them are outsiders married into the Royal Family.

The obvious did not happen. In her own words, Meghan admittedly revealed that she was too 'American' and tactile for Kate, who had internalised the Royal Family rules by the time she arrived at the party.

With estrangement between their respective husbands, Prince Harry and Prince William, it would be rather surprising if the two women are able to bury the hatchet.

But is there a chance for them to recover from the family disaster? Royal author Tom Quinn reveals there is evident regret between the two Royal wives for over their misunderstanding ahead of Meghan's wedding in 2018.

It all started when Kate Middleton complained about her daughter, Princess Charlotte's ill-fitted bridesmaid dress. Meghan, the bride to-be, felt overwhelmed by the confrontation and what came later was a heated argument between the two.

In his book, Yes, Ma'am: The Secret Life Of Royal Servants, Quinn quotes a member of the Royal staff: "The truth is that during the discussions about the bridesmaid's dress, Meghan said a few things she regretted and Kate said a few things she later regretted but it was all in the heat of the moment."

"Both women were crying their eyes out!" the unnamed employee added.

If one lets bygones by bygones, can Meghan and Kate really be friends? While they might be able to find factors of commonality amongst them in theory, in reality, their relationship (if there is one at all) is undergoing challenging times.

The Duchesses are often pitted against one another by the media in unjust comparisons. Naturally, the wife of the heir is often favoured and Meghan is criticized for taking a less traditional path.

It would not be unprecedented for the two royals to seek reconciliation. With the healing of broader family wounds, rebuilding trust, and stepping away from the media-fueled narratives, the two could really play a meaningful role in reshaping the future dynamics of the Royal Family.
