Prince Harry has issued a heartbreaking admission in his most personal interview to date, he doesn’t know how long King Charles has left to live.

The Duke of Sussex, speaking to BBC News from California, opened up about the emotional fallout from his fractured royal ties, his legal battle over UK security, and the ticking clock of his father’s health.

“He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff,” Harry said of King Charles, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment. “And I don’t know how much longer my father has.”

The confession comes days after Harry’s High Court appeal to reinstate full police protection while visiting the UK was rejected, a decision he described as a “good old-fashioned establishment stitch-up.”

Harry, 39, said the ongoing security dispute has been the ultimate “sticking point” between himself and the royal family, suggesting it’s the primary reason for his estrangement from King Charles and Prince William.

“I would love reconciliation,” Harry insisted. “But I’ve now found out the truth. I’ve shared some of it with you today. A lot of it exists out there, whether people choose to ignore it or not.”

Despite the hurt, Harry said he doesn’t regret stepping away from royal life, adding that he “never asked [his father] to intervene”, only to “step aside and let the experts do their jobs.”

Their last confirmed meeting was in February 2024, when Harry flew to London for a brief 30-minute meeting at Clarence House following the King’s cancer diagnosis, their first face-to-face in over a year.
