The nominations for the 78th Tony Awards are out, with Maybe Happy Ending, Dead Outlaw, Death Becomes Her, Operation Mincemeat and Buena Vista Social Club leading the charge.

The announcement, which was presented by Sarah Paulson and Wendell Pierce, nominated English, The Hills of California, John Proctor Is the Villain, Oh, Mary! and Purpose for best play.

Audra McDonald, who already boasts the record for most acting Tony wins, has been nominated for best actress for her work in Gypsy, the 11th nod to her overall. Competing against her in the category is Sunset Blvd star, Nicole Scherzinger.

Writer and actor of Oh, Mary, Cole Escola is contending for best actor against George Clooney for Good Night, and Good Luck, Daniel Dae Kim, for Yellow Face, Louis McCartney for Stranger Things: The First Shadow as well as Jon Michael Hill and Harry Lennix for Purpose.

Notably, Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal's Othello went completely nomination free after the overpriced ticket fiasco and mixed reviews overall.

The event will be hosted by Wicked star Cynthia Erivo on June 8 at Radio City Music Hall.

Iconic writer of Torch Song Trilogy and Kinky Boots, Harvey Fierstein is set to receive a lifetime achievement Tony, meanwhile the Isabelle Stevenson Award for arts advocacy will be given to Celia Keenan-Bolger.
