Inside Prince William’s past: The women who came before Kate Middleton!

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s couple is one for the ages, but the heir to the British throne was quite the bachelor in his youth, with a long list of ladies tied to him as a young royal!

Here’s a list of some of the beauties linked to Prince William as he grew up in the spotlight as the world’s most eligible bachelor in the late 90s and early 2000s.

Davina Duckworth-Chad

One of the earliest woman linked to Prince William was Davina Duckworth-Chad, the daughter of King Charles’ friend, Anthony Duckworth-Chad.

The two reportedly connected in the late 90s, with a 17-year-old William reportedly even inviting her to an exclusive outing!

As per Tatler, Davina “once accompanied William on a cruise of the Aegean Sea in 1999 with the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall."

She is now married to Tom Barber, with whom she shares twin daughters.

Rose Farquhar

Rose Farquhar met the heir in the summer of 2000 right after he graduated Eton, and despite being considered as his “first serious girlfriend”, there’s not much known about their connection.

However, the two remain on cordial terms, with William even attending her wedding to George Gemmell in 2022.

Jecca Craig

Jecca Craig’s romance with William may have been short-lived, but it sure holds a special place on this list!

While the Prince reportedly ended things with Jecca before going to university, the two remained friends and it was her family’s Lewa Private Estate, where William proposed to Kate years later!

Carley Massey-Birch

Perhaps, Carley Massey-Birch was the first of William’s romances at St. Andrews.

Talking about their romance, Carley has said, “William was in the year below, and we got on well, but I think we would have got on well even if nothing had been going on romantically. It was very much a university thing, just a regular university romance.”

As per Vanity Fair, “William was very taken with her, which was completely understandable… Their affair was to be short-lived, however, and ended somewhat stickily when Carley told William he had to make a decision between her and Arabella Musgrave…”

Arabella Musgrave

Arabella Musgrave, the daughter of Major Nicholas Musgrave, proved to be a thorn in William’s side after their meeting in the summer of 2001, before he went off to St. Andrews.

Despite ending things before going off to university, “William missed Arabella. Despite his decision to cool things with her, he took comfort from the fact that she was back at home, and when he returned to Highgrove for weekends they would meet up,” reported Vanity Fair.

While his yearning for Arabella ended his affair with Carley, they did not last either; she later married George Galliers-Pratt.

Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe

Before finally settling down with Kate Middleton, Prince William dipped his feet in the dating pool one last time with socialite Isabella, whom he met while on a break with Kate.

A source revealed to The Mail on Sunday at the time, “William said he needed a break and that summer he went on a boys-only holiday to the Greek Islands. Isabella was very much on the scene that summer.”

“I would go so far as to say that William dumped Kate because he thought he had a chance with Isabella and Kate knew that!” the insider claimed.

Interestingly, Isabella’s half-sister, Cressida Bonas, famously dated William’s younger brother Prince Harry!
