Hopes of a royal reconciliation could already be in jeopardy after details of secret peace talks between Prince Harry and King Charles were leaked to the press, frustrating the Sussexes, according to reports.
The discreet meeting, hailed as a potential “first step” in repairing years of strained ties, took place last week at the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) private members’ club in London.
Senior aides from both camps, including Meredith Maines, Harry’s chief communications officer, and Tobyn Andreae, King Charles’ communications secretary, met for informal discussions.
But the peace effort hit turbulence when The Mail on Sunday revealed the exact timing, venue and nature of the talks, accompanied by photographs of the aides in conversation.
According to The Telegraph, a Sussex source strongly denied leaking details, calling the situation “frustrating” and “far from ideal”, though stopping short of blaming the King’s office.
The leak comes at a sensitive time as Harry and Charles attempt to repair their relationship after years of rift and Harry’s highly publicized attacks on the royal family in interviews, his Netflix docuseries, and his memoir Spare.
While insiders say this was just an “informal chat,” the incident could deepen mistrust, especially given previous royal concerns about private conversations being shared publicly.
