Prince Harry retraces Princess Dianas steps in Angola without Meghan

Prince Harry has touched down in Angola to honour Princess Diana’s legacy by retracing her famous 1997 landmine walk, but this time, he’s going solo.

According to Daily Mail, the Duke of Sussex left Meghan Markle and their children behind in California, citing security concerns.

A royal insider said: “The Duke won’t let his wife go to England over security concerns, so there was no chance he’d allow her to go to Angola to walk across landmines.”

Harry’s trip comes days after his aides held a private “peace summit” in London with King Charles’ communications chief, fuelling speculation that this surprise visit might help shift the media spotlight.

Harry’s visit aims to echo the powerful images of Diana walking a minefield in Huambo almost 30 years ago, a moment that helped pave the way for an international treaty banning landmines, signed shortly after her tragic death.

As patron of The HALO Trust since 2019, Harry has championed the charity’s work to clear Angola’s minefields.

Angola, scarred by a 27-year civil war, still faces the challenge of removing thousands of hidden explosives.

Sources say Harry hopes this trip will not only raise awareness but also encourage further financial support from the Angolan government.

Notably absent was Meghan, with reports claiming Harry wanted to keep this endeavuor strictly focused on his mother’s legacy and his humanitarian work.
