Tom Cruise, known as Pete "Maverick" Mitchell from Top Gun paid tribute to his former co-star, Val Kilmer.
On Thursday, April 3, the Jack Reacher star recently emerged at CinemaCon 2025 to showcase exclusive footage from his upcoming movie Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning.
During the event, the Hollywood legend reflected on the death of Kilmer.
The Rain Man star paused the promotion of his movie to share deep feelings about Kilmer's demise.
The 62-year-old said, "I'd like to honor a dear friend of mine, Val Kilmer."
"I can't tell you how much I admire his work, how grateful and honored I was when he joined Top Gun and came back later for Top Gun: Maverick," Cruise continued.
The Edge of Tomorrow actor asked the audience to share a moment of silence reflecting on Kilmer's dedication and love towards industry.
Cruise concluded his heartfelt tribute by adding "I wish you well on the next journey."
The Batman Forever star died due to pneumonia after being diagnosed with throat cancer. The late actor also lost his speech function due to tracheotomy.
The sad news of Kilmer’s death was confirmed by his daughter, Mercedes.
