Helen Mirren blasts James Bond movies for THIS reason

Dame Helen Mirren is known for her honest comments and this is yet another instance when the legend did not hold back.

The 79-year-old British legend revealed her feelings about the iconic superspy franchise of James Bond to The Standard.

“The whole series of James Bond, it was not my thing. It really wasn’t. I never liked James Bond. I never liked the way women were in James Bond.” said the actress.

Mirren explained the discrepancies of how women in intelligence have been throughout history and how they were portrayed in the Bond movies.

“The whole concept of James Bond is drenched and born out of profound sexism. Women have always been a major and incredibly important part of the Secret Service.”

The movies, based on the novels of Ian Fleming, have always been subject to their portrayal of women in intelligence and their treatment as they are dumbed-down to just an eye-candy character.

In the past, Mirren has also advocated for the next James Bond to be a woman as the next edition is planned to come out in 2027 but the lead cast is yet to be revealed.
