Greta Gerwig’s highly anticipated take on C.S. Lewis' beloved children's books The Chronicles of Narnia has finally gotten a major update.
The Barbie director’s upcoming movie is titled Narnia: The Magician's Nephew and will be released next year on February 12th, hitting streaming platforms a while later on April 2nd, 2027.
As per reports, the film is set to have a star-studded cast including The Devil Wears Prada 2 icon Meryl Streep along with Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, Emma Mackey and Denise Gough.
Greta added in a statement “I was a child when I first read The Magician's Nephew, and I fell in love with the gorgeously improbable but completely brilliant concept of a cosmic lion singing the world of Narnia to life.”
The Little Women filmmaker dished that she didn’t know that she would grow up to be a director but the idea of a universe built out of music was always in her heart since she was young.
"It is the honor of a lifetime to be asked to imagine it into being. Because of C. S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia, I believed in magic and hidden worlds and adventure. I believed that anywhere could be enchanted and that anyone could be swept up into an epic,” Greta remarked.
Notably, others attached to the movie are Andrew Wyatt and co-writer Mark Ronson working on the music for the project as well as Ciarán Hinds, Susan Wokoma, David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith tied as actors.
