Young Sheldon’s Lance Barber is back as George Sr. in the new Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
He made his return in a dream sequence of his son George Jr. (Montana Jordan) in the series.
Barber’s return was previously hinted by cast, with actors sharing a glimpses of Jordan, Barber, Raegan Revord (Missy Cooper) and Zoe Perry (Mary Cooper) at a Cooper family reunion back in February.
Given that his character died in the last season of Young Sheldon, Barber revealed that he feels “honoured” that the character has more story to tell.
In an interview with the TV Insider, The Comeback actor said, “I feel honoured by the fact that George gets to live beyond his death in the show.”
He added, “Even when it’s not a dream sequence, just the fact that he’s there and referred to and on the minds of his family still, and the writers have made sure that that is somewhat of an element and force for Georgie means the world to me to continue that way.”
The Gilmore Girls star continued saying that being surrounded by his fellow cast-mates make the job easier.
“Dynamics fall right back into place, even if we haven’t seen each other in a while,” he said.
Talking about the reaction of live audience, Barber said, “The audience is clearly fans of Young Sheldon who are coming to see Georgie & Mandy’s, and so I get an uproarious applause.”
Young Sheldon, the spin-off of The Big Bang Theory led by Iain Armitage, ran for seven seasons from 2017 to 2024 on CBS.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is the spin-off Young Sheldon and returned for its second season on CBS in February.
The new episodes premiere weekly on Thursday 8 pm.
