The Emmy-winning actress best known for her roles in Northern Exposure, Big Sky and Young Sheldon has passed away at the age of 71.
Valerie Mahaffey passed away after being diagnosed with cancer.
The actress was pronounced dead on Friday, May 30.
“I have lost the love of my life, and America has lost one of its most endearing actresses. She will be missed.”, Valerie’s husband Joseph Kell told Variety.
Valerie won an Emmy for the best supporting comedy actress in 1992 for Northern Exposure.
The late actress also starred in Young Sheldon from 2017 to 2020, Desperate Housewives 2006 to 2007 and Netflix’s Dead to Me from 2019 to 2022.
The American actress was born in Indonesia and lived there until the age of 11. Later, she moved to Texas, US for high school and graduated from University of Texas in 1975.
Valerie Mahaffey starred in Desperate Housewives from 2006 to 2007, where she played the role of Alma Hodge.
